2011/12

China Development Report 2011/12: Demographic Developments in China

China Development Report 2011/12: Demographic Developments in China was released on October 26, 2012. Based on the 6th National Census, the report records the most updated integrated research results of China’s changing demographic conditions and the adjustment of demographic policies. CDRF’s research team takes two years to prepare 14 background reports and organizes several workshops and field investigations, based on which the final report finally came out. The report proposes a new demographic policy that advocates free but moderate birth, quality first and all-around demographic development. It also puts forward specific proposal to gradually adjust the family planning policy. The report gives a detailed analysis of changing demographic conditions in China from the perspectives of education, health, employment, pension, urbanization, women and children development, and family capacity building and provides policy recommendations to deepen demographic reform.

In 2014, the English version of the report was published by Routledge in UK.
