CDRF visits Bijie Children's Integrated Demonstration Area to conduct the baseline survey

From 6 to 24 June 2022, a specialised team from the CDRF went to Bijie, Guizhou, to conduct a baseline survey on the “Rural Child Development Demonstration Zone” in the Bijie pilot area.

As the first comprehensive demonstration pilot for rural child development in China, the Bijie demonstration area represent an innovation in rural child development. This baseline survey sets a reference for subsequent scientific and targeted interventions for children aged 0-6 years in the demonstration area.



The survey was conducted by a research team of over two hundred people led by the CDRF, the Bijie Health Bureau and the county health bureaus, in collaboration with the Bijie Education Bureau and the county education bureaus, and in cooperation with the China Survey and Data Centre of the Renmin University of China, the Key Laboratory of Child Development and Learning Science of the Ministry of Education of Southeast University, Zhuhai Jingmei Psychometric Technology Co.



After nearly three weeks of field work, the team completed 3422 questionnaires, and conducted Bayley tests for 960 people. The CDRF will then analyse the results to lay a solid foundation for evaluating and effectively promoting the “Rural Child Development Demonstration Zone” project in the Bijie pilot area.
