CDRF Holds Seminar on the Report on Promoting Nutrition Equity in the Perspective of Common Prosperity

On June 20, 2023, China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) held a seminar on the report on Promoting Nutrition Equity from the Perspective of Common Prosperity. Experts from China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nanjing Medical University gathered to discuss the strategic significance of nutrition equity and strategies to promote it. The meeting was chaired by Yang Xiuna, Program Manager of Research Department II of CDRF.


Yu Jiantuo, Deputy Secretary General of CDRF, delivered opening remarks and introduced the background of the report. He said that common prosperity is an essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the development of public policies to promote better nutrition and nutrition equity is an important social policy to promote common prosperity. CDRF analyzed the nutrition problems faced by different age groups and the current conditions of nutrition equity from a lifecourse approach, incorporated good practices at home and abroad, and proposed policy recommendations to integrate the promotion of nutrition equity within the context of common prosperity.


Wang Zhicheng, Program Manager from Research Department II, Zhao Ai, Assistant Professor from Vanke School of Public Health, Tsinghua University, Ma Jun, Professor from Institute of Child and Adolescent Health, School of Public Health, Peking University, Wang Limin, Professor from Center for Chronic Diseases of CDC, Huang Feifei, Associate Researcher from Institute for Nutrition and Health of CDC, and Huang Yangmu, Researcher from Department of Global Health, School of Public Health, Peking University, gave presentations in the order of report chapters.


Wang Linhong, Chief Expert on Chronic Diseases from CDC, Huo Junsheng, Researcher from Institute for Nutrition and Health of CDC, and Wang Zhixu, Professor from School of Public Health of Nanjing Medical University, commended the choice of topic, made detailed comments on the report and offered valuable suggestions and recommendations on how to further refine the report.


Yu Jiantuo summarized the meeting, expressed his appreciation for the commissioned experts’ efforts on the report and the in-depth discussions, and promised to translate the report findings into policy recommendations, in order to promote the realization of nutrition equity in the context of common prosperity.
