CDRF Organizes Training in Early Child Development in Ledu District, Qinghai Province

From April 8 to 9, CDRF organized large-scale training workshops for early child development at the Health Bureau of Ledu District, Qinghai Province. 100-odd people participated in this training, including all supervisors, some excellent home visitors and observers from the "China REACH" covering 8 pilot districts and counties, and 7 provinces nationwide. Dr. Mary Young, consultant of Child Development Center, and Sun Jing, researcher of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, offered trainings with specific topics. Zhu Xiaoqing, Director of Health Bureau of Ledu District, and Wang Jiangfeng, Secretary of Health Commission of Jimunai County, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Deputy Program Managers of the CDRF including Bu Fan, Qie Yi and Xie Yushan, took part in the trainings.

Dr. Mary Young stressed the impact of early development on a child's brain, body and psychology, and pointed out the significance of home visitings to guardians of children.

Sun Jing gave a detailed account of children's nutrition and nutrition improvement, meticulously introduced nutrient intake methods of infants at different ages according to their development patterns, and also covered such respects as breastfeeding, pregnancy nutrition, and nutrition package for infants.

After the trainings, trainees visited the kindergarten of the One Village One Preschool program in Ledu District.
