CDRF Begins Research on Applications of AI-based Healthcare, Joint Exploration of the Prospect of AI-based Healthcare by Academia and Industry

On the morning of July 12, 2019, the CDRF and Sequoia Capital China held the Opening Ceremony and Expert Seminar of the "Research on Application of AI-based Healthcare".

Along with the deepening of population aging, the growth in the morbidity of chronic diseases and cancers, and the increasingly prominent issue of inadequate and uneven distribution of healthcare resources, artificial intelligence (AI), a comprehensive and interdisciplinary technology, will be applied to healthcare more extensively and become a vital technology affecting healthcare development.

While integration of new technologies like AI with medical services could meet these requirements, they still face a number of challenges, such as information collection and sharing, and changes in service and management modes. The research is focused on these impediments.

Lu Wei, former Director of the Research Department of Innovation Development, the Development Research Center, the State Council, Cao Yanlin, the Director and researcher of the Research Office of Legal System for Healthcare, the Institute of Medical Information, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Jiang Xue, deputy head of the Division of Scientific Research and Director of the Office of Transformation of Scientific and Technological Achievements, Peking University Third Hospital, Lu Hairong, Director Assistant and Associate Researcher of the Bioinformatics Division, Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology (TNLIST), Tsinghua University, Zhai Jia, the Managing Director of Sequoia Capital China, He Tao, the founder and CEO of miaoshou.net, Zhang Shaodian, the founder and CEO of SYNYI AI, and Wang Shirui, the CEO of Tencent Trusted Doctors and founder and CEO of Medlinker attended the meeting.

Director Qiu Yue of the Research Dept. 2, the CDRF, presided over the meeting. Secretary General Fang Jin, Assistant Secretary General Yu Jiantuo, and responsible persons of relevant departments of the CDRF joined the meeting.
