The "China REACH" project aims to start with early childhood development and help families in poverty-stricken areas to establish a correct concept of early parenting through home-based parenting guidance to improve the development of cognitive, language and other abilities of children, to ultimately block the intergenerational transmission of poverty.

The project is supported by the Lhasa Municipal CPC Committee and Municipal Government, coordinated by the Tibet Mother and Child Health Association, and organized by the healthcare system of the Nimu County CPC Committee and County Government. As at June 2019, the project covered more than 300 children in Tarong Town and Xiumai Township, Nimu County, and employed a county-level supervisor, 4 township supervisors, and 32 home visitors. In August this year, the project will be expanded to four townships in Nimu County, and relevant research will be carried out.

Since the implementation of the "China REACH" project, children who have been intervened by home visits have made positive changes in language, movement and personality. Li Wei and his delegation came to the home of Gazhen, a beneficiary child in Xumai Township, to observe the interaction between the interviewer, the children and their caregivers.

Subsequently, the delegation met with the baby-raising counselor at the "China REACH" project office in Xumai Township.

Fang Jin, Secretary General of CDRF, accompanied the delegation.
