"China-US economic and Trade Relations: Core Issues and Ways of Improvement" Seminar Held

CDRF held a conference and seminar on September 5, announcing the "China-US economic and Trade Relations: Core Issues and Ways of Improvement" topic outcomes. More than 80 experts from Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, China Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, Peking University, the University of International Business and Economics and Renmin University of China attended the conference. Secretary General Fang Jin of CDRF delivered an opening speech. Chief Representative Fei Changhui of the Xcoal Energy & Resources Beijing Representative Office, as a supporting organization, extended sincere thanks to all personnel who had helped with the research.



After reviewing the 40 years of China-US diplomatic relations and analyzing current core issues, the researchers made in-depth studies on and gave an outlook of China-US economic and trade relations from the perspectives of the future China-US relations, industrial policy theory and practice, intellectual property, international multilateral rules and digital trade. The research started in May 2019, and six famous experts, Professor Chen Dingding of the School of International Studies of Jinan University, Professor Wang Yong, Deputy Dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics of Peking University, Professor Wu Changqi of Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, Professor Cheng Dawei of the School of Economics of Renmin University of China, Professor Jin Haijun of Renmin University of China Law School, and Researcher Zhou Nianli of China Institute for WTO Studies, UIBE, were invited to analysis and elaboration of the said topic.


Secretary General Fang Jin of CDRF pointed out in the conference that the China-US relations were the most important bilateral relations in the world today, and that stable China-US relations were not only conducive to the economic, political, social and cultural development of China but also having a positive impact on building a globalized and diversified international system. China and US should consider expanding cooperation based on mutual benefits and respect, properly manage differences, and effectively push forward bilateral relations with coordination, cooperation and stability as the general tone, so as to lead the development of international order.


During the conference, Mr. Michael Macfaul, former US Ambassador to Russia and Senior Researcher at the Hoover Institution of Stanford University, and Mr. Robert Kapp, former President of US-China Business Council and President of Robert A. Kapp & Associates, Inc. attended the seminar. Mr. Macfaul shared his opinions on maintaining the global multilateral framework, and Mr. Kapp suggested China and America have more academic exchange. Researcher Wang Huimin of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Senior Engineer Yin Limei of China Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team, and Associate Professor Yu Jun of the College of Law of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, made comments on the research, respectively.
