CDRF Heads to Jamaica for Attending the Reach Up Knowledge Exchange

From November 6 to 8, the Reach Up Knowledge Exchange of 2019 was held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. More than 30 experts with experience in actual management and research from more than ten countries attended the meeting. Dr. Mary Young, Liu Bei and Bu Fan from the Child Development Center attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

The meeting was mainly divided into two parts. On the 6th, countries around the world exchanged their experience in the Reach Up project. The representatives from Guatemala, Zimbabwe, China, Jordan, Bangladesh, India, Columbia and other countries made speeches in succession to introduce the project status and research progress. Bu Fan introduced the experience and achievement of "China REACH" on behalf of CDRF.

The meeting held on November 7 to 8 was mainly in the form of group discussions, deliberating the implementation of the projects in various countries, brainstorming ideas for some important issues of concern to study the orientation of future promotion and quality improvement of the projects.

The Reach Up project is originated from Jamaica in the 1970s, which is an early intervention measure targeting children in impoverished regions, and has been implemented in 14 countries around the world. It has become a national project in Brazil, Jamaica and other regions. In 2015, CDRF designed the "China REACH" based on it, which has been successfully carried out in ten domestic counties, served thousands of children, and provided valuable experience for the Reach Up project. The meeting also provided a good platform for CDRF to learn and communicate, which is conductive to further optimizing the intervention measures and development orientations of the projects.
