CDRF Held a Training Workshop on Home Visit for “China REACH” Program

To enhance staff members’ understanding of the “China Rural Education and Child Health (China REACH)” program, CDRF held a training workshop on home visiting from July 26 to August 2, 2021.

The training was held online and offline, with Dr Susan Chang-Lopez, director of the Reach Up Early Childhood Parenting Program, invited to teach via online and He Qiong and Li Runxia, supervisors of the “China REACH” program in Huachi County to provide on-the-spot assistance.

The training workshop was conducted in seven days. Via video link, Dr Susan shared the design concept, methodology, assessment results, and process of the Reach Up curriculum and explained each technical aspect of the home visit and its criterion for implementation comprehensively and systematically. Up to fifteen members from the CDRF attended the training, interacting and role-playing. The movement highlighted the systematic and feasible nature of home visits as an early childhood development intervention, fully demonstrating first-hand experience from the pilot counties of the “China REACH” program. Through training, staff members were able to understand better the specific process and regional challenges that hinder the program’s implementation, which will help promote advocacy of related policy and in-depth social experiments of early childhood development in less developed areas of China.
