CDRF Participates in the Aristotle-Confucius Symposium on Ethics for the 21st Century
At the invitation of Jeffrey Sachs, Chairman of the United Nations
Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), Cheng Huiqiang, Deputy
Secretary General of the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF), attended
the Aristotle-Confucius Symposium on Ethics for the 21st Century in Athens,
Greece, on July 3-7, 2023, and delivered a speech on the topic of "advancing
modernization of harmony between humanity and nature" to explain the idea of
Chinese modernization and tell the story of China's construction of an
ecological civilization. Wang Xue, Director of the International Liaison
Department of CDRF, also participated in the symposium.
Co-organized by SDSN and the Academy of Athens, the symposium brought
together more than 100 top scholars from China, Greece, and other countries and
regions around the world to discuss how to draw on the ancient wisdom of China
and Greece to address the current climate crisis, economic inequality, women's
development, and other global challenges.
During the conference, the CDRF delegation had friendly exchanges with
participants from Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Colorado
College, Loyola Marymount University, Southern Connecticut State University,
Athens University of Economics and Business, the European Association of
Environmental and Natural Resource Economists (EANREA), as well as with guests
from domestic organizations, such as the Chinese Embassy in Greece, the Chinese
Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, and
the Confucius Foundation of China, among others.
