On 11 July 2023, the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) held a
seminar on "Trends in International Development Aid and China’s New Role". Fang
Jin, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CDRF, and Elizabeth Knup, Director
of the Ford Foundation in China, delivered welcoming speech. Martín Abregú, Vice
President for International Programs at Ford Foundation, delivered a keynote
address. Yu Jiantuo, Deputy Secretary General of CDRF; Zha Daojiong, Professor
of the School of International Studies, Peking University, Xu Xiuli, Dean of
College of International Development and Global Agriculture, China Agricultural
University; and Zhao Chunxia, Special Term Research Director at the Child
Development Research Institute of the CDRF, shared their views on the emerging
trends of international development assistance and cooperation, as well as
China's new role in this area.
Starting from 2020, the CDRF initiated the project International Development
Assistance and Cooperation (IDAC). The research aims to align with the concept
of global governance that emphasizes extensive consultation, joint contribution,
and shared benefits, ultimately fostering a closer community of shared future
for humanity. CDRF invited 11 distinguished international experts to join the
first phase, and the research findings, titled "IDAC in Times of Change," are
scheduled for publication later this year.
