“For the Future: Teaching Competency Enhancement Training of Vocational Education Teachers” Successfully Completed in Bijie
On July 10-21, 2023, the China Development Research Foundation (CDRF)
organized the Teaching Competency Enhancement Training of Vocational Education
Teachers under the "For the Future: Vocational Education Enhancement" program.
Supported by Bijie Education Bureau and Bijie Teacher Development Center, the
training benefited 200 teachers from 4 higher vocational schools and 9 secondary
vocational schools in Bijie.
The training is divided into three segments of four days each, centering on
curriculum development, curriculum standard-setting, teaching process and
teaching skills, etc. It aims to enhance the level of teaching in vocational
schools in Bijie, strengthen the faculty and improve the quality of vocational
education.
The training was conducted as a workshop, using interactive and immersive
ways of teaching, to achieve learning by doing. After the training, experts
guided participants to help them better understand and use "competency-based"
and "student-centered" teaching methodology, which was highly praised by the
trainees.
The lecturers included Wang Wenjian, an expert from the World Bank's
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs and former
Deputy Director of the Center for Vocational Education Development, Ministry of
Education, Huang Yanfang, professor from Nanning Normal University and Deputy
Director of the Guangxi Undergraduate Vocational Education Research Center, and
Wei Xuanyan, adjunct professor from the Beijing Academy of Educational
Sciences.
