CDRF Holds Seminar on Policy Study on Primary Recycling of Plastic Packaging for Food Contact Purposes
On the afternoon of 19 December 2023, the China Development Research
Foundation (CDRF) held a seminar on "Policy Study on Primary Recycling of
Plastic Packaging for Food Contact Purposes". Fang Jin, vice chairman and
secretary-general of CDRF, delivered a speech, and Chen Junshi, academician of
the Chinese Academy of Engineering and general consultant of China National
Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, made a keynote speech. Cheng Huiqiang,
deputy secretary-general of CDRF, hosted the seminar.
Relevant department leaders and experts from the National Development and
Reform Commission, the National Health Commission, the Chinese Academy of
Inspection and Quarantine of the State Administration for Market Regulation, and
the Solid Waste Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment gave speeches
respectively.
Relevant experts from China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment,
China Food Information Center, National Key Laboratory of Food Contact Material
Testing, and China National Resources Recycling Association shared the latest
progress in rPET technology and standards.
Representatives from rPET production companies such as Guangxi Guolong, China
Resources Chemical, Hainan Yisheng, and Tianjin Yingchuang, as well as PepsiCo
Inc, Coca-Cola, Nestle and other companies shared the latest practices.
The seminar generated thorough and in-depth exchange of views on the
importance and necessity of primary recycling of food-grade rPET, as well as how
to promote and regulate it.
