CDRF Participates in Symposium on China’s Charity Law
On 3 January 2024, China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) participated
in a symposium on the Charity Law held by the China Association of Social
Security. Representatives from the association, China Charity Alliance, China
Red Cross Foundation, Peking University, Tsinghua University and other
charitable organizations and academic institutions on philanthropy held an
in-depth discussion on the development of philanthropy with Chinese
characteristics as well as the promotion and operation of charity in accordance
with the law, in order to promote the high-quality development of charity.
Cheng Huiqiang, Deputy Secretary General of CDRF shared his reflections on
learning the new charity law from CDRF’s own experience in pursuing high quality
development constructing a think tank foundation, in terms of strengthening the
overall leadership of the Party, promoting the concept of "big charity",
encouraging philanthropy with Chinese characteristics to meet with the
international standards, and further combining the rule of law and regulation.
Fu Qianrui, Deputy Director of the General Office of CDRF, attended the
symposium.
In 2024, the "Year of High-Quality Development" for CDRF, the foundation will
take the study and implementation of the Charity Law as an opportunity to fulfil
its mission to "advance good governance and public policy to promote economic
development and social progress", and will continue to focus on its main
responsibilities and promote high-quality development.
