CDRF Visits Harbin to conduct research on "Carbon Neutral Regenerative Agriculture"
On 21-22 September 2023, a team from China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) visited Shuangcheng District in Harbin, Heilongjiang, to conduct field research on "Carbon Neutral Regenerative Agriculture". The team was led by Cheng Huiqiang, Deputy Secretary General of CDRF, with the participation of Han Yang, researcher of the Rural Economy Research Department of the Development Research Centre of the State Council, Zhao Xingbo, professor of the College of Animal Science and Technology of China Agricultural University, Li Ying, sustainable agriculture expert of the Nature Conservancy's China Program, as well as Zhu Meili, Deputy Director of CDRF's Research Department III, Dr He Wei, Program Manager of CDRF's Research Department III and post-doctoral fellow Fan Zhenting, Program Manager of CDRF's Research Department III.
The team held talks with Shuangcheng District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau, Natural Resources and Planning Bureau, Ecology and Environment Bureau, and Rural Revitalization Bureau, and conducted in-depth discussions on the topics of regenerative agriculture policies and practices, carbon emission reduction paths in pastures, sustainable development path of healthy soil and obstacles, and paid field visits to Nestlé's Dairy Farming Institute, diary barns, the Grains Competence Center’s experimental fields and dairy farms.
