On July 27, 2021, China Development Research Foundation held a symposium on the Green Transition of Industry Chains, which focused on the opportunities and challenges faced by the green transition of industrial chains, the course of action, business practices, and policy needs. Government officials, guests from academia and business would analyze the policies, share their experience and explore a few problems and difficulties.

Experts from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), China Green Carbon Foundation, Wealth Capital, and World Resources Institute (WRI) discussed policies and pathways of the Green Transition of Industry Chains from different perspectives. Representatives from BMW Group Region China, State Grid EV Company, Bosch in China, Evonik China, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), Shougang Research Institute of Technology, Yanfeng Automotive Interiors (YFAI), Teld New Energy, and Intel Corporation shared their experiences and thoughts on the green transition of industry chains, with more than fifty of them from different organizations attending the symposium.

Enterprises are key stakeholders in green, low-carbon, and circular development. The industrial chain is an essential vehicle of green transition and innovation, which is also a pivotal link to address climate change and achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. Energy conservation and carbon-emission cut through collaborative innovation of enterprises themselves and throughout the industrial chain are crucial to accelerating the green transition of China's industrial chains. It was the first symposium after June 3, on which CDRF and BMW Group and other enterprises initiated the Green Transition of Industry Chains.
