The First China-US Symposium on Building the Financial System of the 21st Century, co-organized by the CDRF and Harvard Law School, was held in Beijing from June 11 to June 13, 2005.
More than 100 guests (one half from China and the other half from the U.S.) were invited, including senior government officials, politicians and their think tanks, financial entrepreneurs, lawyers and consultants, scholars and a few media representatives. They discussed and exchanged views on the financial challenges facing the two countries. Lou Jiwei, Executive Vice Minister of Finance, Zhou Xiaochuan, President of the People's Bank of China, and Paul Speltz, Emissary of the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury to the People’s Republic of China, gave keynote speeches.
