Secretary-General Lu Mai met with Mario Cantu, General Coordinator of Mining for Mexico

On the afternoon of September 19, 2016, Secretary-General Lu Mai met with Mr. Mario Cantu, General Coordinator of Mining for Mexico, Mr. Armando Pérez Gea, Director-General of Fideicomiso de Fomento Minero (FIFOMI, the Mining Promotion Trust of Mexico), and Mr. Raúl Cruz Ríos, Director General of the Mexican Geological Survey. Secretary-General Lu Mai briefed the guests on the work done by the CDRF in relation to China Development Forum, macroeconomic research and early childhood development. Mr. Mario Cantu gave a brief introduction to economic and social development in Mexico and bilateral trade between Mexico and China. China is the second largest trading partner of Mexico, while Mexico is the second largest trading partner of China in Latin America. Bilateral trade, especially mineral trade, between the two countries has developed rapidly and the potential for growth in trade is huge. The two sides discussed the possibility of future cooperation in projects and exchanged views on the future trend of Chinese-Mexican cooperation in energy, mineral and infrastructure construction.
