Secretary-General Lu Mai gave the keynote speech at Chinese Economists 50 Forum

Chinese Economists 50 Forum was held in Beijing on Feb.15, 2017, with the theme of “Deepening the Supply-side Structural Reform—Property Rights, Impetus, Quality”. Lu Mai, theSecretary-General of China Development Research Foundation attended the Forum and delivered the keynote speech.

It is imperative for China to carry out the supply-side structural reform. As Mr. Lu pointed out in his speech, great efforts should be concentrated on improving the efficiency of resource utilization and improving the products and servicesquality to meet the demand of the rising middle class, especially in the field of education and health. “According to our recent survey, payment on non-academic education in China amounted to 1 trillion yuan,” he noted, indicating a market with huge demand. When talking about the reform of state-owned enterprises, he said that we must be determined to carry on the reform and straighten our governance structure. He also suggested that our state-owned enterprises should learn from large foreign companies to overcome the challenge and seek continuous improvement.
