Retrospective Research Project on World Bank Structural Adjustment Programs and Rural Reform Pilot Area of the CDRF Progresses Smoothly

At the end of July 2019, the Retrospective Research Project on World Bank Structural Adjustment Programs and Rural Reform Pilot Area was officially launched. This project aims to review the exploration process of the World Bank Structural Adjustment Programs and Rural Reform Pilot Area in the 1980s and objectively summarize lessons learned.

At present, with the profound changes in the international structure and the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics into a new era, China's reform and development are facing a more complicated economic and social context at home and abroad. Against this background, objectively reviewing the history of the rural reform pilot area and summarizing and reflecting on the experiences and lessons in the promotion of reform has important historical value and far-reaching practical significance for comprehensively deepening reform, advancing the national governance capacity and modernizing the governance system.

The project will sort through the first-hand literature and conduct in-depth interviews with frontline reformers, objectively restore the macro background of "incremental reform" at that time, three-dimensionally display the reform practitioners' thinking and exploration from the development process of the experimental area, and summarize their experiences and lessons in depth.

On August 5, 2019, Vice Chairman Lu Mai led the Foundation's research team to visit the Agricultural Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss with Director Song Hongyuan over the construction of the first-hand archives and data sorting of the experimental area.
