Baseline Survey for "Promoting Child Care Services for Common Prosperity (Hangzhou Pilot)" Successfully Completed
From May 5 to 16, 2023, China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) went to Hangzhou to conduct a baseline survey on "Promoting Child Care Services for Common Prosperity". The survey team, consisting of more than 80 people from the Child Development Research Institute of CDRF, Renmin University, Zhejiang University, and Bijie Early Childhood Teacher's College, conducted a nine-day survey in Hangzhou's Shangcheng District, Xihu District, Qiantang District, and Chun'an County. The survey was conducted using the Bailey IV assessment, a widely used international developmental assessment tool for infants and toddlers, and a questionnaire, covering nearly 500 children in four districts (counties) of Hangzhou.
The baseline survey aimed to identify the current developmental status, supply and demand of childcare services for 0-3 years old in Hangzhou, to provide data to support the Foundation's upcoming pilot project on childcare service in Hangzhou, and to develop more targeted intervention measures. Hangzhou has already made a lot of useful exploration and positive progress in promoting early child development. In the upcoming pilot project, the Foundation hope to accumulate experience and set an example for further promoting inclusive childcare services in urban areas nationwide through more systematic and scientific interventions and evaluation studies.
