Introduction

This is a joint collaborative research program conducted by the Foundation and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE). The program looks at the development of Sino-US bilateral investment agreements, and assesses the impact of Sino-US bilateral investment agreements on China’s economy, anti-monopoly, reforms of state-owned enterprises, management of negative lists, and the scrutiny of investment security. A report entitled Americans’ views from all walks of life on Sino-US investment agreements and China’s corresponding strategies was submitted to high officials of the central government, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Vice Premier Wang Yang.
