CDRF delegation visited Daming County to put into practice the Poverty Alleviation through Education Program
Education plays a crucial role in ending extreme poverty. In order to promote early childhood development and to help Daming County complete the task of eradicating extreme poverty by 2020, the CDRF joined hands with Daming County to carry out the Poverty Alleviation through Education Program.
On July 11, a delegation of the CDRF visited Daming County to discuss the specifics of the program with the education and civil affairs authorities of the county on the basis of previous research and communication. The two sides reached an agreement on the scope of the pilot program, management and training of pre-school education volunteers, the schedule of the program and other specifics. After the discussion, the delegation visited Sungandian Township, one of the pilot townships of the program, and talked with the head and teachers at the village kindergarten to learn about the demand of volunteers and the condition of the kindergartens.
The CDRF and the Government of Daming County will further improve the implementation plan of the program based on the results of this visit and sign a cooperation agreement in the near future.
On July 14, the delegation of the CDRF visited pilot kindergartens to learn about the condition of infrastructure, the quality and number of the teaching staff, and educational concepts, and gave some valuable advice and suggestions to them.
