On June 19-20, 2013, CDRF convenes in Beijing the Training Workshop of Child Development in Rural Areas. Currently, the central government is coordinating related ministries and commissions to jointly formulate the National Child Development Program in Rural Areas, planning to carry out life-cycle health and education intervention for children aged 0-15 in impoverished regions with 680 poor counties lying in contiguous stretches. In order to push forward the formulation and implementation of the Program, CDRF holds this training workshop which witnesses the presence of relevant officials, foreign and Chinese leading scholars such as Nobel Laureate Prof. James Heckman and Mary Eming Young, Senior Advisor of Harvard Center on the Developing Child, representatives from pilot counties, enterprises and media. The participants have a thorough discussion of scientific research and theories of early child development, global policy practices, pre-school and psychological development of rural kids, and Chinese practice in these fields.
