The press conference was presided over by Fang Jin, the Vice Chairman and the Secretary-General of the CDRF. Ning Jizhe, the Vice Director of the Committee of the Economy of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech.

Cai Fang, the chief expert and the faculty member of the National High-end Think Tank of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Li Shi, the president of the Institute of Sharing and Development of Zhejiang University, and Ma Xiaohe, the former Vice President of the Macroeconomic Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, respectively introduced the main contents of the report. Several experts discussed the theoretical and practical issues such as "promoting integrated urban and rural development to help common prosperity" and "improving the policy system for promoting common prosperity".

"Continuing to improve people's well-being and steadily promoting common prosperity" is one of the main goals of China's economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

The China Development Report 2021-2022: Pathway to Common Prosperity systematically explains the policy vision and development context of common prosperity and discusses the meaning of common prosperity in current context. The report explores constructing an observation indication index based on the quality of life research, and analyses the progress of common prosperity and significant bottlenecks. It also further discusses development models that balances growth and sharing, elaborates urban/rural, regional, social class divide and ways to mend them, and puts forth a policy framework to promote common prosperity.

In order to have a solid research foundation and a broad perspective, the China Development Research Foundation has organized several expert symposiums and seminars and commissioned researchers from research institutions in universities and ministries as well as policy practitioners from relevant government departments to write 16 background reports.
