China-UK Think Tank Forum 2022 successfully held
On 31 May 2022, the China-UK Think Tank Forum, jointly organised by the Development Research Centre of the State Council and the UK Treasury, and co-hosted by the CDRF as well as the British Embassy in China, was successfully held. The forum theme was "Tackling the Challenges of an Ageing Population".
The forum was chaired by Fang Jin, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CDRF, and Cheng Huiqiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the CDRF. Robert Woods, Director of Global Economics Department of the HM Treasury, and Gong Sen, Director General, International Cooperation Bureau of the Development Research Centre, delivered opening remarks and summarised the discussions. Cai Fang, the Chief Expert of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences National Think Tank; James Benford, Director of Economics Department of the HM Treasury; Hai Wen, Vice Chairman of the Peking University Council, also the Founding Dean of Peking University HSBC Business School; and Adelina Comas-Herrera, Research Fellow at London School of Economics and Political Science, delivered speeches. Li Jianwei, Director of the Social and Cultural Development Research Department of the Development Research Centre of the State Council, also participated in the forum discussion.
The forum is part of the 2022 China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue series of events. The Dialogue started in 2008 as a dialogue between the two countries' Deputy Prime ministers/Vice Premieres. It has promoted several agreements on economic and financial cooperation between the two countries for more than ten years and is scheduled to be re-launched this year after put on hold in 2019.
