CDRF Visits Jinhua, Zhejiang to Conduct Research on Commercial Health Insurance
On 13-14 August 2023, a team from China Development Research Foundation
(CDRF) visited Jinhua, Zhejiang to conduct research on commercial health
insurance. The team was led by Yu Jiantuo, Deputy Secretary General of the CDRF,
with the participation of Jin Weigang, Deputy Director of the Institute of State
System Research of Zhejiang University, relevant staff and students from the
China Insurance and Social Security Research Center of Fudan University, Dong
Fureng Economic and Social Development School of Wuhan University, the School of
Finance of Nankai University, and the School of Social Development and Public
Policy of Beijing Normal University, as well as relevant staff of Research
Department 2 of CDRF.
On August 14, the team held a discussion on commercial health insurance with
Jinhua Municipal Healthcare Security Bureau, Jinhua Municipal Health Commission,
and Jinhua Branch of China Life. Zhou Yanxiang, Party Secretary of Jinhua
Municipal Healthcare Security Bureau, talked about the current status of the
medical insurance system in Jinhua City, focusing on the exploration and
practice of Jinhua’s "Optional Premium Method" commercial supplemental medical
insurance for major illnesses (Jinhuibao). Wu Guanpin, Director of Jinhua
Healthcare Security Bureau, answered the team’s questions about commercial
health insurance. At the end of the discussion, Yu Jiantuo gave concluding
remarks.
The team then went to Jinhua Branch of China Life. Jiang Baisong, member of
the Party committee and deputy general manager of Jinhua Branch, introduced the
situation of local commercial health insurance, and the team gained a deeper
understanding of the emerging mode, development prospect and current
difficulties of local commercial health insurance sector, which provided vivid
reference basis and practical inspiration for the topic of "Research on the
Regional Development of Commercial Health Insurance in China".
